Sydney Protest - #NoNewCoal Redline Actions
Adani's gone a little quiet in the past few months - but if you thought they'd given up the fight to build Australia's biggest and most polluting coal mine, you're dead wrong.
The mining giant is STILL shopping around for taxpayer subsidies, with the Queensland Government considering a $100 million dollar deal to build road access to the Carmichael mine, despite their election pledge of no public funds for Adani "in any shape or form".
And while the billion dollar NAIF loan seems dead and buried, the federal government is examining all possible avenues to channel taxpayer dollars to the project, including through the Export Finance and Insurance Corporation.
Meanwhile, Adani has just sought approval to massively expand the dam providing water to its mine by 450 percent, to 10 BILLION litres - and all without providing an environmental impact statement or any additional review.
Adani may think it's above the law, and unfortunately the QLD and federal governments seem to be in agreement. But through a truly inspiring grassroots effort, our movement has gone toe to toe with crooked mining barons and their stooges in government to keep this project on ice. It's time for one more massive surge to make sure the Adani mine ends up on the scrap heap where it belongs.
Will you join us at Circular Quay as part of this national day of action against Adani on Friday June 29th?
